For thousands of years a Black Belt meant the highest level of proficiency in the deadly arts. Over the centuries it has come to mean so many other things; Father, brother, sister, friend, protector, teacher and more. As the Martial Arts evolve and the world becomes an even more frantic, confusing place it is harder to maintain our own humanity as we seek out to define ourselves.
This Belt is a symbol of each of us reaching out to another who has fallen and attempting to connect with them on a human level, on a level of compassion, of faith, of trust, care and respect for those who came before and taught us.
